I have more than eight years creating digital content. This includes news stories, social media content and video content.

I studied Sports Journalism and Broadcast Journalism at university, graduating with First Class Honours. During my time, I sourced and creates news stories for online and broadcast newsrooms for which I honed my ability as a storyteller.

Throughout my time at university, I undertook three work placements with Bristol Live. I helped the news and sports desks by sourcing my own stories through social media and attending press conferences with both Bristol Rovers and Bristol City. I also published court reports.

After graduating, I took my first job as a news reporter for Archant titles the Weston Mercury and the North Somerset Times. This role was primarily focused on print and online news content. I quickly built up my list of contacts whom I could rely on for stories or use as spokespeople on specific topics. Towards the end of my near-three year stay here, cuts were made to an already small newsroom which left just me and one other reporter responsible for filling two newspapers and running two news websites for six months - an effort I'm still immensely proud of.

I broke several stories which were later picked up by national titles during the pandemic - chiefly from keeping close contact with North Somerset's MP, Dr Liam Fox and Weston-super-Mare MP, and Boris Johnson's anti-corruption tsar, John Penrose.
During my time here I began my Level 7 NQJ Diploma in Senior Journalism which improved my skills and understanding in writing current affairs, media law and producing engaging video content. I graduated from the course with Merit.

My most recent role was as a senior digital journalist with the newly-formed BristolWorld. Alongside sourcing and writing engaging content to establish the title's audience, I was placed in charge of social media content, court reporting and often asked to step into the role of editor.
As a new newsroom, we were tasked with setting BristolWorld up as a trusted news brand in a city with an established legacy title, Bristol Live.

To help do so, I decided to focus on issues other newsrooms were not focusing on such as those affecting the south of the city which has been historically deprived. I was sourced social stories which portrayed national issues, such as housing and cost of living crises, at a grassroots level. I also specialised in data stories on housing prices, crime statistics and the city's education system as well as human interest topics such as Bristol's Clean Air Zone, nostalgia articles and community efforts.

Page views, social following and engagement levels increased month-on-month during my time here as I continued to improve the standard of my copy. Shortly after arriving, the newsroom celebrated its first month with more than a million page views, this number would be surpassed multiple times.
